Software for the Entertainment Industries on the Psion Series 3/3a/3c
The following is a series of
programs for the Psion palm-top computer that have been developed over some years.
The ideas have come from various people who wished that "in the field", they had
a piece of equipment that
could perform certain functions that they did with wrist watches and scraps of paper.
The Psion is ideally suited for work such as this as it can be taken anywhere, accessed
quickly and not shared by a number of users.
Showtime - A standard
stopwatch
Replay - A recordable , replayable and fully editable timer.
Sideshow - A database in your pocket with all you could need.
Playtime - A calculator that manipulates time.
Beamlight - A beam angle calculator

A basic stopwatch that allows the
"marking" of up to 100 split times and to list them to show the elapsed time
from the start and the from the previous recorded time. Showtime will continue to run when you are working in other areas of the Psion
and indeed when the machine in off. The accuracy is governed only by the speed of your
fingers and the recovery time after an input is about 0.2 seconds. Showtime allows the "saving
"
of split times for later "printing".
A replayable time recording facility that allows you to "flag" events in sequence, save them as a file for later use, make adjustments to any speed or interval and replay them at any time. Replay has been designed to take timings from fast sequences in rehearsal so that multipart cues can be analyzed and adjusted with ease. Each key on the keyboard can be assigned a name so that when that key is pressed that name is positioned into the sequence, when replayed the name-flags "beep" at the correct time to an accuracy of 0.032 of a second.
Sideshow is a database that is preloaded with the details of every relevant company and venue in the industry. You can search for information you need in the normal way or you can concentrate the search to a geographical area so that if you area on tour, say in Manchester, you will just be presented with information from your immediate area.There is also the facility to add you own personal notes to all the preloaded entries
Playtime is calculator that can do all the Psion Calc can do, as well as being able to Add, Subtract, Divide and Multiply Time.
Beamlight is a graphical beamangle calculator that contains a database of every British luminiare ever made.
